Dear and beloved sponsors and pen pals, we are happy to greet you after our long vacation. We are hoping that you and your families have had a great summer, that your fall has gone well and that you are successfully back at your jobs and at school. We have had a fun summer, as always. Katya S. and Misha P. got to go to Anapa in the South of Russia to have a good rest there. The rest of us spent two shifts at the summer camp and later on worked with the ecological team cleaning Kostroma from trash. We made a contribution into our city’s life and earned some pocket money. After everyone was done with work, we took part in orphanage’s preparations for the new school year, helping caregivers inside the orphanage, as well as in the garden. This year we have a new discipler, Dasha Degtyarenko, who has offered us several exciting projects to work on throughout the year. We promise to keep you updated on everything we do. Stay in touch and write often.

Good day, everyone. After the intensive rest it is time to get back to work. This year we have announced the Best Child of the Year award among the children of our orphanage. There are three nominations: the Best Student (academic success), the Most Obedient Child (discipline), the Most Active child (social life of the orphanage). We hope that the idea of getting the main prize is going to guide our kids through the year. We are planning the main prize to be a trip to the South of Russia, but we are still looking for sponsors to provide for that. The honorable-mention prizes are most likely going to be cell phones, simply because they are most appealing to kids. You will be excited to know that all of our eight graduates are successfully enrolled into academic institutions already, two of whom go to university now. We are very proud of this year’s graduates and hopefully the Competition will help next year’s graduates to become yet more successful and accomplished. We look forward to the new academic year and your trip to crown it. Stay well and keep in touch.

Good morning, day and evening to everyone reading our updates. My name is Dasha Degtyarenko and I have the pleasure of being the new discipler of Kostroma#1. The kids and I decided on the main directions of our activities for this year, some of which will include making a scrapbook about the graduates, learning how to work on the computer more efficiently, improving our felting skills, and, naturally, making cards and writing letters, as well as talking and getting to know each other better. The orphanage has also decided to hold the graduates’ meetings regularly, which is going to help us collect scrapbook material, as well as motivate children to be better at studying and communicating with others. I am looking forward to this year, the goals are set, now what’s left is to follow through and reach them. Talk to you all very soon.
| Prayer requests | ||
Please, wish us good luck in our numerous endeavors and pray for the academic success and spiritual growth of the children.
Stay well and take care of your close ones,
Children, staff and discipler of Kostroma orphanage
