March 2013 Ethiopia Vision Trip Announcement


Dates: March 9th – March 17th 2013

Cost: *$1000 land costs. This includes lodging, in country transportation, food, drinks and travel insurance. *Cost may change slightly depending on the size of the group.

Itinerary: The exact itinerary is still coming together. We will visit a few sponsored CarePoints around Addis Ababa, and spend 2 days in Ambo visiting unsponsored locations. I am shooting for 4-5 days of ministry activities plus a day for shopping. Typically that is the last day, as most flights leave very late at night.

Trip Leader: Matthew Monberg, Dir. Marketing and Communication

Purpose: Vision trips are designed primarily for pastors, church or community leaders who are interested in the prospect of having their church or community sponsor an orphan community. These trips also enable you to visit various locations throughout the country and provide ministry to orphans and vulnerable children suffering through extreme poverty.

Costs: Children’s HopeChest application and deposit of $250.00 is due (10 weeks out) to pay online under the “give” tab and fill out all the information for “trip payment” be sure to use the trip code ET130320T in the “reference” section. Please email me know when you make a payment.

Second payment of $250.00 is due (8 weeks out)

Final Trip Payment is due (4 weeks out)

Flights: You will book and purchase your own flight (either using our travel agent or book on your own), but you must arrive and depart the same airport at the same time as the trip leader. Typically, I will purchase the trip leader’s flight after deposits have been received.

Accommodations: You will stay in a comfortable hotel or Guest Home in Addis Ababa and in Ambo.

Medical: To have the most benefit, see a health-care provider at least 4-6 weeks before your trip. We follow the Centers for Disease Control guidelines for vaccination recommendation

Travel Insurance: Included in the land costs is basic travel insurance coverage.

Visa: You will obtain your Ethiopia visa at the airport upon arrival into Addis Ababa. Please bring a clean, 2006 or newer $20.00 bill for this.


  1. Breakfast will usually be at your hotel or guest house
  2. Lunch will vary depending on schedule (sometimes sandwiches and sometimes
    restaurant meals)
  3. Dinner will usually be at a restaurant
