Nina is one of HopeChest’s older orphans who has just been told by her doctors that she has less than 2 weeks to live. We have posted some of Nina’s story and struggle with cancer below, and would ask that you pray for God’s miraculous healing. At this point, hope is slim and she is in a hospice-style situation where she is having her pain managed through medication plus visits from our staff and her friends in Vladimir.
Please join HopeChest and Nadezhda Fund in praying for a miracle for Nina.
In 2006, Nina Kashirina, a graduate of Pokrov orphanage, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her left knee joint. At the age of 16, her leg was amputated above the knee, and Nina went through 6 rounds of chemotherapy. The results of chemotherapy were positive. A prosthetic leg was purchased for Nina, and she returned to Pokrov Pedagogical College to continue her studies.
In the summer of 2010, Nina went to see an oncologist, complaining of pain in her lungs. She wentthrough tests at an oncological center in Moscow where it was determined that the cancer had metastasized to her lungs. Eight rounds of chemotherapy were prescribed. With the help of Fund Nadezhda staff members, Nina was hospitalized in the Department of Chemotherapy of the Vladimir Regional Center of Oncology without having to get on a waiting list.
When she was admitted to the hospital, Nina experienced extreme stress as she was flooded with memories of all the pain and suffering she had previously experienced as well as the loss of her hair. Thoughts of having to go back through all that she experienced after having returned to a relatively normal life filled her with fear. After beginning treatment, Nina started complaining ofweakness and nausea, consequences of the chemotherapy. HopeChest and our Russian partner Nadezhda Fund provided Nina with supplemental nutrition and medicine. We were also able to purchase a high-quality prosthetic leg and a natural hair wig for her. Nina is receiving emotional support from Fund Nadezhda staff on a daily basis.
Nina has completed 4 of the 8 rounds prescribed. There had been some discussion of discontinuing her treatment after the 3rd round because the chemotherapy didn’t seem to be working and the effects were unbearable. Then the decision was made to proceed with the treatment. She has already had pneumonia and constantly has to have fluid drained off her lungs.
At this point, her doctors have decided to discontinue treatment, and given her about 2 weeks to live.
Please join us in prayer for Nina today.

I am impressed by your perseverance Nina, know that you are TREASURED by our God, I pray his angels will be protecting your mind and comforting you, providing peace that passes all understanding - praying for God to restore you….. be it on this earth 9as we all desire) or in heaven
Keep fighting……. may Christ fight on your behalf - He does have all power, beyond our limited sight of it!
It broke my heart when I read this. I literally cried for Nina. I often get angry at God…I don’t understand why he lets these things happen. Yet, I know that God is good and faithful no matter what. I will pray for Nina and for God to put His healing hand upon her if that is His will. I pray that she will continue to fight. I pray that at this time, the Lord will surround her with His love, comfort, and strength. I pray that she would be filled with the Spirit of the Lord. She is deeply loved by Him!
I am speechless.
I am speechless. May the Lord bless you Nina.
