Provide a home with Christian mentors for orphan girls targeted for prostitution.
“My name is Katya. I grew up in the orphanage with a girl called Nadya—we were like sisters. When we left the orphanage for tech school, the director said we had been invited to a HopeChest Family Center. I accepted the invitation to the Family Center; Nadya did not. I didn’t see her again until her funeral. The police told the orphanage director that Nadya had become a prostitute at a truck stop and was killed by one of the men who paid her for sex. He murdered her and left her in a ditch by the road.”
Did you know that one of Russia’s largest exports is young girls? Up to 40 percent of orphan girls in Russia will experience some form of sex trafficking or forced prostitution. These vulnerable young women are promised security and riches.
With the promise of a better life in a new country, they go along with pimps who wait outside the orphanage walls for the next group of “graduates.” Only, when they arrive in their new home, their passports are confiscated, and they are forced to serve men day and night. Children’s HopeChest provides 1,000 orphans with protective services through our Ministry Center, Family Center, and Independent Living Center Programs. Girls and boys in these programs are not only safe, but loved and cared for by our staff. Our ultimate goal is to see them living independently with families of their own.
For over 15 years, Children’s HopeChest has prevented sex trafficking BEFORE it begins. These programs have a proven track record of reducing crime, prostitution, alcoholism, unemployment, and suicide. They are HopeChest’s most effective programs for positive long-term outcomes.
You can provide a well-lit path for a young woman to avoid prostitution–or a young man to avoid a life of criminal activity.
Your gift of $50, $100 or $500 will not only provide a safe haven for young women, but also the support and tools for long-term success.
Visit hopechestpartners.org to learn more and to help young woman stay out of the sex trade.
