We are deeply saddened by the tragic events in Kampala yesterday. Thankfully, all of our staff is safe and accounted for. The expectation is that Uganda will continue to be an area of unrest. This unrest is primarily due to the pending national elections. However, the events of yesterday do not seem to be tied to the elections. This is important because we should always be vigilant and alert when traveling overseas. There have been recent bombings in Moscow and Uganda as well as the attack on Mumbai last year. These are all sites where we are or will frequently send teams.
We have set a travel restriction in Uganda from September 2010 - April 2011. Travel is a key to our ministry and it is not our desire to hinder or stifle it in any way. But, as stewards of kingdom resources and your partners, we WILL exercise extreme caution. If you need further information, please contact Bob Mudd by e-mail at rmudd@hopechest.org.
Please continue to pray for the victims of this horrible attack and that those responsible are held to account.
