Burayu Dairy Farm is a sustainable economic
empowerment initiative designed to benefit the families of CarePoint children in Burayu town. The
project will be implemented in three phases, and the aim is to create employment opportunities
and promote financial sustainability through profit-sharing and cooperative management.

Burayu CarePoint currently serves 156 children and supports 143 families through Family Economic
Empowerment initiatives. By leveraging this Dairy Farm project, these families will gain employment
and a stake in the farm as shareholders, allowing them to receive dividends from the farm’s profits.
The farm management will be a collaborative effort between Children’s HopeChest (CHC) and
selected members of Burayu’s CarePoint Rehoboth Saving and Credit Association. The project also
emphasizes financial sustainability by allocating 30% of the profits to a closed bank account for
reinvestment and distributing 70% among shareholders.

Burayu CarePoint has been operating in Burayu town for more than 10 years, providing holistic support to vulnerable children and their families. The CarePoint currently serves by addressing their
educational, health, and psychosocial needs, and supports 143 families through economic
empowerment initiatives. These programs have significantly improved the livelihoods of
participating families; however, sustainable economic opportunities remain a critical question.
Therefore, this project will help the community and the families be more sustainable and ensure
CarePoint graduation.
