About Uganda
Uganda is a landlocked country located in East-Central Africa. Many children in Uganda have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS, while malaria, dehydration, and respiratory infections are the main causes of death in children under 5. Our established CarePoints serve more than 2,500 children and youth. Programs that equip communities and families to move toward self-sustainable transformation include tailoring, poultry farming, microfinance, and agricultural farming, while additionally teaching valuable life skills.
We believe the next generation can experience hope through two-way transformational relationships, and that those relationships can be built through travel.
Travel is an important aspect of relationship building between the partner in the U.S. and the partner in the
community abroad. This allows for the relationship to deepen on a personal level, when the U.S. partners
can go and live life alongside the overseas partners.
When in-country, partners are able to have face-to-face communication, which – even despite language barriers – enhances the emotional connection. Travel embodies the commitment to this partnership. Children’s HopeChest encourages partners to travel to their CarePoint at least once a year.
Through your partnership in Uganda, real change is happening.
