Carrie Bowers
HopeChest Ambassador
Advocating For Ethiopia
My family and I have been partnered with Abenezer Children’s Home in Gerba Guracha, Ethiopia since 2015. Through HopeChest, we’ve become friends and sponsors to four amazing children, and in 2019, we helped raise funds to complete a new kindergarten. Since 2016, my husband and I have made several trips to Ethiopia, and in 2023, we were excited to return with our daughters—finally introducing them in person to the community and friends they had grown up hearing so much about.
I am excited to continue to help raise funds to build a latrine and provide access to clean water at Abenezer. This project will directly benefit more than 100 children and caregivers by improving sanitation, reducing illness, and providing fresh water for daily use. Beyond health, this access will support long-term sustainability, opening the door for future business opportunities like animal husbandry and expanding school enrollment. It’s an investment not only in infrastructure, but in dignity, opportunity, and the future of this remarkable community.

What Your Donation Supports: Latrine Infrastructure Project
I am excited to be raising funds for the latrine infrastructure project at Abenezer CarePoint in Gerba Guracha, Ethiopia . The project is designed to increase access to a quality education through use of better, more sanitary facilities for the children and the teachers in the compound. Will you join me?
