Igniting Hope

At Children’s HopeChest, we empower orphaned and impoverished children and their communities through relationships that cultivate holistic transformation and sustainability. Our unique Community-to-Community model connects communities in the U.S. to communities overseas with a high population of orphaned and impoverished children.

We seek to bring lasting, positive transformation to those we serve, and in turn, our communities in North America are impacted as well.

Mission: Why are we here?

Children’s HopeChest exists to glorify God by releasing the potential of orphaned and impoverished children and their communities. We do this through partnerships that cultivate two-way transformation.

Purpose: What do we do?

Children’s HopeChest seeks to glorify God by effecting positive, lasting change in the lives of vulnerable children around the world. Specifically, we engage communities in long-term partnerships that:

Empower local leaders to provide food, medical care, and hope to their communities, while sharing the gospel.

Work with local leaders to reduce, and eventually eliminate, poverty by creating self-sufficiency for every child and every family in their community.

Support partnering communities as they directly engage with overseas communities to create sustainable transformation using healthy international development practices.

Address the complex causes of poverty, including material, spiritual, emotional, social, economic, and educational needs.

Put systems in place to reduce, and eventually eliminate, poverty in all of its forms.

Tend to children’s holistic needs for survival, community, education, and employment.

Transform the lives of children and their communities through a focus on sustainability, independence, and long-term self-sufficiency.

Transform the lives of the partnering community members through exposure, education, relationship, service, and perhaps most importantly, instilling hope.

What We Believe

Children’s HopeChest was founded as and remains to this day an evangelical Christian organization. Our Statement of Faith affirms our core beliefs and doctrine. In practice, we strongly believe in putting our beliefs into action as an expression of our faith in Jesus Christ. We feel called to demonstrate the power of the gospel by meeting earthly needs within a spiritual context and for an evangelical purpose. We believe in hands-on, demonstrative, purposeful faith—the kind of faith Jesus himself demonstrated. It is our heart to be Jesus in the flesh to every orphaned and vulnerable child we serve, and in doing so help them fulfill the purpose God has for their lives in this world, and in the world to come.

Child Protection and Safety

Children’s HopeChest is committed to the care of children and believes that each child is a special creation, made in the image of God. We are emphatically opposed to any form of child abuse, exploitation, or oppression, and will strive to do everything possible to prevent such injustice. In turn, we have instituted certain policies and guidelines that are meant to govern the interactions of Children’s HopeChest staff members, contractors, partners, HopeChest Friends, and any others involved with children in our programs and the
surrounding communities.
