Ngariam CarePoint

in partnership with the Westmoore Community Church

Ngariam CarePoint is located in Ngariam Sub-County, part of Katakwi District in northeastern Uganda. This area has historically been an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp, and the CarePoint provides critical support to children and families in the community.

The community is resilient and hardworking, but many families face challenges such as famine, cattle raiding, and threats from the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). While primary education is available, the cost of secondary school often prevents many children from continuing their studies.

In partnership with Westmoore Community Church, Ngariam CarePoint has provided a safe and welcoming space where children and families have accessed programs that supported education, leadership development, nutrition, health, and spiritual growth. Through these programs, children built on their strengths, families gained practical tools to thrive, and the community has grown stronger.

Ngariam CarePoint is now moving toward graduation. From the very beginning, the goal of HopeChest’s partnership with each CarePoint has been clear: to equip communities with the tools, resources, and leadership they need to thrive on their own terms. Graduation does not mean challenges disappear. Rather, it marks a powerful shift—where those challenges are met with confidence, local leadership, and sustainable resources that come from within.

Along the way, something remarkable happens: families become more self-sufficient, youth and adults step into leadership, and the community begins to take full ownership of its future. Years of partnership have built the systems, resilience, and vision needed for this community-based organization to thrive independently.

HopeChest’s approach to alleviating poverty is asset-based, because we believe that in every place on earth there are resources, not only for surviving, but for thriving and succeeding. Local leaders tell us what they do have instead of what they don’t have, and we walk with them to see their vision for their community come to fruition through development projects.

A fundraiser for Ngariam CarePoint is transformational rather than transactional. It promotes empowerment rather than dependence. Your support for these projects will go a long way as, together, we invest in holistic and sustainable solutions that address the root issues of poverty.
