El Paraíso CarePoint is located in the small rural community of Mazatenango, Suchitepéquez, about 25 km from the city of Mazatenango and 170 km from Guatemala City. The area has a hot tropical climate and reflects the mix of Ladino and Indigenous cultures typical of the region.
While Mazatenango is mostly urban, El Paraíso still keeps a rural way of life. Most families depend on farming and informal work to earn a living. The community has a preschool and an elementary school, but access to secondary education, health services, and markets is very limited.
People in El Paraíso face numerous challenges common to rural areas of Suchitepéquez, including limited access to clean water, malnutrition, inadequate infrastructure, and scarce job opportunities outside of agriculture.
Despite these difficulties, the community has strong potential for growth. With better infrastructure, health and education services, and programs that promote economic opportunities—especially for women and youth—El Paraíso could move toward a more hopeful and sustainable future.
In partnership with Woods Chapel Church, El Paraiso CarePoint provides a safe and welcoming space where children and families can access programs that support education, nutrition, health, and spiritual growth. Through these programs, children build on their strengths, families gain practical tools to thrive, and the community grows stronger.
By connecting communities, this partnership transforms lives, builds lasting relationships, and empowers local leaders to sustain the CarePoint’s mission for generations.

Sponsor a Child at El Paraiso
Empowering a child is one of the most personal ways that you can make an impact on global poverty. It is more than providing for their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. When you sponsor a child, you build a relationship that shows that child they are valuable, worth loving, and worth investing in.
Your sponsorship is the starting point of a journey that equips vulnerable children, their families, and their communities to create sustainable transformation. When you sponsor a child with HopeChest, you are not just supporting one child — you are helping transform entire communities.

HopeChest’s approach to alleviating poverty is asset-based, because we believe that in every place on earth there are resources, not only for surviving, but for thriving and succeeding. Local leaders tell us what they do have instead of what they don’t have, and we walk with them to see their vision for their community come to fruition through development projects.
A fundraiser for El Reparo CarePoint is transformational rather than transactional. It promotes empowerment rather than dependence. >Your support for these projects will go a long way as, together, we invest in holistic and sustainable solutions that address the root issues of poverty.
