Known as one of the Golden Ring cities of Russia, Kostroma lies 223 miles north of Moscow. Believed to have been founded between 1152 and 1157 by Prince Yuri Dolgoruky, the city straddles the famous Volga River. The major industry of the town is linen manufacturing, and it is surrounded by flax fields. A busy city of 250,000 people, Kostroma is a wonderful blend of modern lifestyle and rich tradition.
Kostroma #1 Orphanage was founded in February 1998 and holds up to 32 children. The children are divided into four groups according to their ages. They attend City School #14 and study in two shifts. There are a few kids who are individually taught at the orphanage due to health, psychological, or behavioral challenges.
With the partnership of Grafton Baptist Church the children at Kirov #1 Orphanage have the opportunity to grow physically, spiritually, and emotionally while the Grafton Baptist Church community also experiences positive transformation!
