About the Project

In Aware, Ethiopia, many families are facing displacement and instability due to a major government reconstruction project. Caregivers who once relied on informal or unstable work are now rebuilding their lives with limited resources and opportunities.
The Aware Bakery Project offers a sustainable, dignity-centered solution.
This community-run bakery will create reliable jobs and income for caregivers, provide hands-on training in baking and small-business skills, and strengthen long-term financial stability for families. In addition to supplying fresh baked goods for the local community, the project fosters shared ownership and local leadership, empowering participants to move toward self-sufficiency. By supporting this initiative, donors help the Aware CarePoint progress toward graduation with a stronger, more resilient community at its core.

About the Partnership
Evergreen Ministries has partnered with Children’s HopeChest in the area of Aware in Ethiopia since 2014.
Aware CarePoint is located in Yeka Sub-City of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital. The community is resilient and resourceful, yet many families face challenges including poor sanitation, unsafe water, overcrowded housing, and limited access to healthcare and education.
In partnership with Evergreen Ministries, Aware CarePoint provides a safe and welcoming space where children and families can access programs that support education, leadership development, nutrition, health, and spiritual growth. Through these programs, children build on their strengths, families gain practical tools to thrive, and the community grows stronger.
By connecting communities, this partnership transforms lives, builds lasting relationships, and empowers local leaders to sustain the CarePoint’s mission for generations.
