Project Description

HopeChest Guatemala proposes to purchase a four-wheel-drive pickup truck for use by HopeChest Guatemala staff in order to safely visit more remote CarePoints, as we focus on the goal of guiding our local leaders in the process of community transformation.

The objective for purchasing a four-wheel-drive pickup truck is to have a suitable vehicle for use in visiting our 28 CarePoints, many of which have little or no road infrastructure, for the purpose of mentoring and training local leaders, as well as to distribute gift in kind donations.

Historical Background

HopeChest Guatemala has grown exponentially since it launched operations in 2012, however, the office staff has had limited vehicle access for visits to the CarePoints. We have focused, increasingly, on establishing model villages, (Pueblo Modelos), in the more remote Northeast and Southwest areas of the country in an effort to confront rural poverty and effectively care for vulnerable children, while building community models for transformational change.
