Bole Bulbula CarePoint is located in Bole Sub-City, on the north-eastern side of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital city. The community is resilient and resourceful, though many families struggle with low incomes that don’t cover food or school fees, malnutrition, high living costs, and shared or temporary housing.
Many community members have migrated from other regions of Ethiopia and work in construction, building cobblestone, cleaning homes, washing clothes, or baking injera.
In partnership with the Koelle Jech Connect Community, Bole Bulbula CarePoint has provided a safe and welcoming space where children and families have accessed programs that support education, leadership development, nutrition, health, and spiritual growth. Through these programs, children built on their strengths, families gain edpractical tools to thrive, and the community has grown stronger.
Bole Bulbula CarePoint is now moving toward graduation. From the very beginning, the goal of HopeChest’s partnership with each CarePoint has been clear: to equip communities with the tools, resources, and leadership they need to thrive on their own terms. Graduation does not mean challenges disappear. Rather, it marks a powerful shift—where those challenges are met with confidence, local leadership, and sustainable resources that come from within.
Along the way, something remarkable happens: families become more self-sufficient, youth and adults step into leadership, and the community begins to take full ownership of its future. Years of partnership have built the systems, resilience, and vision needed for this community-based organization to thrive independently.
