Colegio Evangelico Israel CarePoint, commonly known as “Colegio Israel,” is a Christian school in the rural town of Tecpán, central Guatemala, about 70 km west of Guatemala City. Tecpán is one of Guatemala’s oldest Mayan towns, with predominantly indigenous families living in small homes. Many are hardworking and resourceful, yet face challenges such as broken households, addictions, violence, and limited access to education. Colegio Israel was founded to meet the community’s need for quality education.
In partnership with Nineteen:Ten Church, Colegio Israel CarePoint has provided a safe and welcoming space where children and families have accessed programs that support education, leadership development, nutrition, health, and spiritual growth. Through these programs, children built on their strengths, families gained practical tools to thrive, and the community has grown stronger.
Colegio Israel CarePoint is now moving toward graduation. From the very beginning, the goal of HopeChest’s partnership with each CarePoint has been clear: to equip communities with the tools, resources, and leadership they need to thrive on their own terms. Graduation does not mean challenges disappear. Rather, it marks a powerful shift—where those challenges are met with confidence, local leadership, and sustainable resources that come from within.
Along the way, something remarkable happens: families become more self-sufficient, youth and adults step into leadership, and the community begins to take full ownership of its future. Years of partnership have built the systems, resilience, and vision needed for this community-based organization to thrive independently.
