eS’khaleni CarePoint is located beneath the Lubombo Mountain that also acts as a boundary between Eswatini and South Africa.
The name eS’khaleni itself has a lot of connotations. It is a siSwati word that means “the gap.” People of this poverty-stricken area are in the gap between the Eswatini and South African governments as neither country has shown responsibility for the wellbeing of these people as they are considered to be in “no man’s land.” Most of the people here are farm workers who earn very little income. Many of them are of Mozambican origin that came to Eswatini to work as cane cutters in the nearby farms.
To further complicate matters, there is an outpost to which soldiers are assigned in eS’khaleni which increases the vulnerability of the young women in the area. Most of the children are being raised by either their mothers or grandmothers because they were fathered by soldiers or temporary farm workers.
eS’khaleni CarePoint was started to respond to the needs of this forgotten generation. Hunger and HIV/AIDS are the main problems in this mountain area.
With the partnership of the Haven Field Community Church, the children at eS’khaleni CarePoint have the opportunity to grow physically, spiritually, and emotionally while the Haven Field Community Church also experiences positive transformation!

Empower a Child at eS'khaleni
Empowering a child is one of the most personal ways that you can make an impact on global poverty. It is more than providing for their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. When you sponsor a child, you build a relationship that shows that child they are valuable, worth loving, and worth investing in.
Your sponsorship is the starting point of a journey that equips vulnerable children, their families, and their communities to create sustainable transformation. When you sponsor a child with HopeChest, you are not just supporting one child — you are helping transform entire communities.

Start a Fundraiser for eS'khaleni
HopeChest’s approach to alleviating poverty is asset-based, because we believe that in every place on earth there are resources, not only for surviving, but for thriving and succeeding. Local leaders tell us what they do have instead of what they don’t have, and we walk with them to see their vision for their community come to fruition through development projects.
A fundraiser for eS’khaleni CarePoint is transformational rather than transactional. It promotes empowerment rather than dependence. Your support for these projects will go a long way as, together, we invest in holistic and sustainable solutions that address the root issues of poverty.
