Kirov #1 Orphanage is a refuge for children who have experienced loss, abandonment, neglect, abuse, and family degeneration. Kirov # 1 Orphanage is situated in a picturesque district of Kirov City.
It opened in 1960 originally as a boarding school. The orphanage is unique because it is a home and school for children with special emotional and behavioral needs. Kirov # 1 has over 100 children from grades 1st to 9th. The children’s ages range from seven to seventeen. The children live in different family groups which cultivate community, responsibility, compassion, trust, respect and vulnerability. In the groups, the children live as one big family with older children taking care of the little ones. In addition, they participate in many activities including sports, theater, crafts, dance and discipleship lessons. Nearly 50 highly qualified teachers, caregivers, and staff love and care for the children. Through the orphanage programs and the supportive staff, children are given the opportunity to develop into healthy, independent, and successful adults.
