The Obwobwo CarePoint is in a rural area, and the national power grid does not reach the community; therefore, the community often does not have power. Ironically, Uganda is a tropical country that experiences long seasons of sunshine throughout the year. The CarePoint would like to install some solar panels that take full advantage of the sun’s renewable resource. Solar panels also have a lower maintenance cost and higher sustainability.

The installation of solar power at the CarePoint will change the narrative as well as contribute to mindset change in the community towards self-empowerment projects in the long run. Solar panels will support several activities at the CarePoint such as functioning of electrical appliances for work and communication, initiation of income-generating projects, pumping water, and irrigation for the property. The income generated from these projects will help in the maintenance of the fence and CarePoint sustainability.
