Meet the Storytellers

Anya and Matthew
Anya Fomina, a 28-year-old mother of a 7-year-old boy named Mathew, is a graduate from the Kostroma 1 orphanage. She participated in the young mum program at CHC/Nadezhda fund and is currently studying to become a social worker at Kostroma State University. Initially graduating from a tech school and giving birth right after, Anya faced challenges in pursuing a university degree. However, with consistent support from CHC/Nadezhda fund, she succeeded despite initially failing her entrance examination. Anya is actively involved in the mentorship program and helps organize events at the Kostroma care point, driven by her desire to assist children in difficult situations.

Sveta, Vanya, and David
Vanya, a graduate from Galich orphanage, and Sveta, a graduate from Kostroma 1 orphanage. Sveta joined the young mum’s program when she had their son, then they joined the young families program and have a 5-year-old son named David. In 2018, Vanya underwent surgery for a brain tumor which left his right arm paralyzed for over a year, making it impossible for him to work and support his family. CHC/Nadezhda fund provided crucial assistance, including food and medicine, and helped them maintain a healthy family relationship. Sveta received training to become a beauty master, enabling her to contribute financially. Vanya’s health has improved, and he now works as a taxi driver to support his family.
