HPL Fundraising Toolkit

We are so excited for you to fundraise for your CarePoint! Below are some tips and tricks to help make your social media efforts compelling and successful.

SOCIAL MEDIA 101

Build excitement for your fundraiser by posting on social media two to three weeks before your fundraiser ends.  Post about your fundraiser several times a week.

Plan ahead. Set up the fundraising platform that you want to use (we recommend HopeChest’s fundraising pages), so you can link to your fundraising page.

Be authentic when you share about what your CarePoint partnership means to you. Share a story from your last partner visit or from the last CarePoint report you received from your Community Partnership Manager.

Create urgency! Create a sense of urgency to give by counting down to the end of your fundraiser.

Each post on Facebook should include these three things!

  1. A relevant photo
  2. Hashtags → #ChildrensHopeChest
  3. A link to your donate page

Keep copy short and sweet (between 30 – 90 words).

Post in the mornings (7-9am) or the afternoons (12-2pm) for best engagement.

Use the provided sample copy for some of your posts!

Each post on Instragram should include these three things!

  1. A relevant photo
  2. Hashtags → #ChildrensHopeChest
  3. Copy that lets people know the link is in your bio

Put the link of your fundraising page in your Instagram bio so it is easier for people to access.

Posting either in the morning (7-9am) or in the evening (6-10pm) often results in the best engagement.

When you upload photos, be sure that words or important parts of the image are not cut off when seen as a square in the Instagram grid.

Child Protection Policy Reminder

Storytelling is a compelling way to help raise money for your impactful partnership. As you share stories of hope, please review Children’s HopeChest’s child protection policy guidelines below. We are a community that believes in dignity for every child. If you have a question about if what you are sharing is dignifying, please ask! We are here to support!

  • HIV STATUS: HopeChest expressly forbids the public communication of a child or caregiver’s HIV/AIDS status without changing the name, and clearly indicating that names have been changed to protect the individual’s privacy.
  • TRAFFICKING AND ABUSE: In cases of known sex trafficking, human trafficking, or known sexual, physical, or emotional abuse, HopeChest expressly forbids the public communication of child’s name AND photo without changing the child’s name, and clearly indicating that names have been changed to protect a child’s privacy.
  • HEALTH STATUS: HopeChest expressly forbids the public communication of a child or caregiver’s health status without changing the name, and clearly indicating that names have been changed to protect the individual’s privacy.
  • FIRST NAME ONLY: Any public reference to a child by a donor, traveler, staff member, should only include a first name. It is not permissible to associate a child’s photo/update/information with their full name. This includes any social media platforms, email exchange, videos, and texts messages.

In regards to photos, do not share photos for marketing, personal, or fundraising purposes that diminish the respect and dignity of the child or their family. This includes: photos or videos of deformities, malnourishment, special mental or physical needs, nudity of any kind.

  2. Click “Fundraisers
  3. Click “Create a Fundraiser”
  4. Edit your fundraiser
    • Select the amount you want to raise
    • Be sure your CarePoint name is in the title of your fundraiser so HopeChest’s finance team can properly attribute your partners’ donations!
