How It’s Different
HopeChest has a unique approach to transformation because we understand that systemic change is needed.
We want to help, not harm
In 2014 alone, the United States, Canada, and fellow member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development spent $135 billion to alleviate global poverty. And yet, more than 1.3 billion people still live in extreme poverty (less than $1.25 per day). Handouts, whether 25 cents or $1 million, don’t work, and can actually do further harm.
A unique approach to transformation
We have discovered an approach that actually works, and we are called by God to use this approach to create sustainable transformation in the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children and their communities.
There are many organizations that offer child sponsorship. While child sponsorship provides for the basic needs of a child, the way HopeChest approaches long-term care and transformation really does set us apart from other traditional sponsorship organizations.
More than child sponsorship
We take a holistic view of the child and their community. If we simply help a child and neglect to partner with their home community in long-term transformation, when they grow up, these formerly vulnerable children will potentially be released as adults back into an unhealthy – and potentially dangerous – situation.
